Alfred Nicholas Gardens
Mount Dandenong is not all about scones and tulip farm in Spring as it is also a fantastic place to view autumn foliage through the gardens. The drive uphill itself is welcoming with beautiful shades of red as Ash trees, Maple trees and Liquid Amber line most of the roads. Walk through shady trees down to the picturesque lake, and stop by the quaint boathouse for the perfect picnic spot. Take the turnoff just before you get to Sassafras and stop when you get to the carpark to get to Alfred Nicholas Gardens. Take a break at the industrial and edgy Piggery Cafe managed by the renowned Vue De Monde headchef, Shannon Bennett and his team at Burnham Beeches.
Cloudehill located at the top of the Dandenongs and the fertile soil in the Cloudehill Garden,
accompanied by cool weather is available all season for viewing. It is not too late to catch some autumn foliage in May as the last of maple trees bring crimson and flush silk pink and beeches fill the gardens with russet with plenty of summer’s green to compliment the colorful red hue of autumn.
Take a walk at the garden and admire artworks from talented artists from early days and contemporary artists from recent years. Drop by the Seasons Restaurant for fresh produce with delightful settings for all occasions.
